Vienna Highflyer

VIENNA
HIGHFLYER

"Disciplined flight character, endurance and healthy condition."

Curator's Selection Note

In Vienna, beauty cannot be separated from performance. The characteristic cube-shaped head and that short, thick beak are the mark of unshakeable discipline in the sky. I evaluate them not individually but in the harmony of those famous tight flocks; because Vienna means disciplined power.

Breed History & Origin

Vienna Highflyer — The Jauken Tradition

This flying tradition called “Jauken” in Vienna's streets is so deeply rooted that UNESCO had to register it as living cultural heritage.

Taking shape on the rooftops of Vienna in the 1800s, this flight culture covers 2-4 hours of uninterrupted flight in tight flocks of 10-30 birds. Colour variants are diverse but discipline never changes.

When evaluating this breed, one must look not at a single individual but at the continuity. That harmony, that unshakeable group discipline — the true spirit of the Vienna Highflyer lies there.
